Alternative media, other services support students with disabilities
Campus community invited to Disability Awareness Week activities Oct. 11-14

When referring to Juliet and Tiger, the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) at Cal State L.A. is not calling out nicknames of individualsÂbut rather two high-tech Braille embossing machines available on site to print out curricular materials for students who are visually-impaired.
In order to level the playing field and enhance learning outcomes, the OSD offers Braille production and other alternative media services for more than 500 CSULA students who are currently registered as physically disabled. Career preparation and placement assistance is also available through the OSD WorkAbility IV (WAIV) Program.
To commemorate the 2010 Disability Awareness Week, there will be a table set up on the UniversityÂs Main Walkway from Monday, Oct. 11, to Thursday, Oct. 14, to provide more information about the OSD and its support programs.
