Cal State L.A. among top-ranking institutions
noted in Diverse ‘Top 100’

Los Angeles, CA -- California State University, Los Angeles was recently listed #31 in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education’s “Top 100,” a national list of colleges and universities that conferred the most bachelor’s degrees to minority students in 2008-2009, based on data from the U.S. Department of Education.

In a separate listing by disciplines, Cal State L.A. was also listed as a top-ranking institution in awarding bachelor’s degrees in education to Asian American and Hispanic students; social sciences and history to Hispanic students; and business management and marketing to Asian American and Hispanic students. In addition, Cal State L.A. was included in the listing for awarding bachelor’s degrees to Hispanic students in engineering and biological and biomedical sciences.

Cal State L.A. is also among the top-ranking institutions in California awarding bachelor’s degrees in all disciplines combined to Asian American and Hispanic students.

The Diverse magazine lists are drawn from information collected by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics.
