Speech Delivered by President James M. Rosser at Fall
Faculty Day on September 18, 2006
Cal State L.A. is afforded the unique opportunity during the
current academic year to develop, within the context of shared
governance, a multi-year strategic plan aligned with the Compact
with the Governor, Cornerstones Revisited, the Trustees Graduation
Initiative, the WASC accreditation visits scheduled for 2009-10,
the Delivering Results Enrollment Management Plan, and strategic
workforce initiatives resulting from the CSU Economic Impact
Study.
In addition, implementation of the recently authorized CSU
Revenue Management Program, when combined with the preceding,
provides an unparalleled opportunity for Cal State L.A. to take
charge of its immediate future.
I look forward to working with the entire campus community as
we craft a strategy for excellence and success over the planning
horizon, 2007-08 to 2010-11. I would also like for us to revisit
the issue of quarter versus semester.
Again, I welcome you to the beginning of a challenging and
exciting year for all of us. I look forward to an effective
partnership with academic governance as we take charge of our
future.
