  • Freshman applicants

    • All freshmen applicants must submit official SAT or ACT results. The test must be taken no later than December 2018.
  • Transfer applicants

    • To faciliate transfer success, many Cal State LA majors have major-specific requirements for admission that focus on lower division preparation in the major. Visit the Major-Specific Criteria webpage for the latest information about these requirements.
  • Returning Cal State LA students must meet the admission requirements based on their returning student status. Visit the Returning Student webpage.
  • Graduate/Credential/Certificate applicants
    • Visit the Graduate Application and Admission webpage for important information.

    • Admission to graduate/post-baccalaureate programs is a two-step process. Each program has its own departmental review process, which often includes a supplemental program application. Supplemental application materials are due by the same deadline as the university application. Some programs may also require specific admission/entrance exams (e.g., GRE, GMAT, etc.).

• Cal State LA Downtown (DTLA) is also accepting new transfer and graduate applicants for their unique programs. Be sure to review the Cal State LA College of Professional and Global Education site for details of these programs including location, schedule, admission, fees, and financial assistance.

The Fall 2019 term is August 20, 2019 to December 16, 2019.

• All undergraduate programs will be closed for admission. Interested undergraduates should plan to apply for the Fall 2019 semester. The Fall 2019 application filing period opens October 1, 2018.
• Select graduate/credential programs will open for admission. To view the specific programs and their application deadline, visit the Spring 2019 deadlines webpage.

The Spring 2019 term is January 17, 2019 to May 25, 2019.
