The 12th^th Annual CSU Graduate Student Conference

This year’s keynote speaker will be

Professor Sutherland is Lord Northcliffe Professor of Modern English Literature at University College London, and Visiting Professor of Literature at Caltech. His books include How to Read a Novel (2006), Inside Bleak House (2005), The Literary Detective (2000), Victorian Fiction: Writers, Publishers, Readers (2006), The Life of Sir Walter Scott (1994), and The Longman Companion to Victorian Fiction (1989). His honors include the Associated Student Body of Caltech Excellence in Teaching Award (1992, 2003), and the Sherman Fairchild Distinguished Scholar Award (1993). Dr. Sutherland is also a George Watson Fellow at the University of Brisbane, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and a Fellow of University College in London. Currently, Dr. Sutherland is engaged to do a comprehensive guide to fiction for Viking Penguin as well as a Very Short Guide to Bestsellers for Oxford University Press.

Throughout the day, CSU graduate students will be presenting papers on a wide variety of subjects including medieval literature, feminist studies, romanticism, children’s literature, composition and rhetoric, postcolonialism, and African-American literature.

The conference, including all student panels and the keynote speech, is free to all attendees. However, there is a registration cost of $25 for those who wish to join us for continental breakfast and full lunch. Copies of the conference proceedings may also be purchased for $12:00.
